Do you want to make the switch over to natural and nontoxic products for you and your family? Are you struggling to know where to start? Or what’s good and what’s bad?

You don’t need to throw everything out all at once, it can be a gradual process as things run out. But just make sure you are making a well informed choice for the next products you purchase.

We are going to start posting regularly with what you can swap in and out of your skincare regime to help take the guess work out of it.

Here's the first one:

Pawpaw ointments SWITCH TO Zoe Organics Everything Balm

Fermented pawpaw is good for you right? Yes, however sadly the most popular pawpaw ointment on the market contains a mere 4% pawpaw. That means the remaining amount is made up of mainly petroleum jelly, but also castor oil and canola oil. They claim it is a ‘safe’ petroleum. Safe petroleum? Sounds like an oxy-moron to me!

Unfortunately you tend to find a lot of petroleum jelly (it can also be labeled as mineral oil, paraffin wax) in conventional skincare products because it’s CHEAP! Sadly, it doesn’t add any value to the product, in fact it’s more likely cause harm to your skin than good (more info here):

  • It disrupts the way the body naturally detoxifies
  • It slows the rate at which cells are renewed, thereby damaging collagen, connective tissue, and elastin - all of which contribute to the way skin looks and feels
  • It results in skin that ages prematurely

A great alternative to pawpaw ointment is Zoe Organics Everything Balm, as its name suggests it’s a really versatile product. Keep one in your handbag/nappy bag, one in the bathroom and one on the bedside table. The aliments it can be used for include but aren’t limited to: Chapped cheeks, lip balm, teething rash, sunburn, bug bites, burns, scrapes, minor cuts, eczema, chicken pox, chemical burn, razor burn, hand moisturizer, cuticle conditioner, callouses, scars and wind burn.

And the ingredient list, well it contains all natural nontoxic ingredients that you could eat (we don’t recommend you sitting down to a meal of it) but in theory you could!! It’s also USDS Certified Organic. Which is what you want when you’re going to slather it on your lips 5 times a day, right?

You really can't go wrong with the Everything Balm - it's definitely one of our favourites and for $16.95 its great value as a little goes a long way and it's so multifunctional!
